Reproduction WW2 German Type 35 Anti Tank mine.
The Tellermine 35 (T.Mi.35), a standard German metal cased anti-tank landmine used extensively during WW2.
There was also an anti-personnel mine with a similar year designation, the S-mine 35 (S.Mi. 35), often called the “Bouncing Betty”.
Tellermine 35 (T.Mi. 35)
The Tellermine 35 was a large, circular, plate-shaped anti-tank mine designed to incapacitate enemy vehicles.
-
Description: It had a sheet steel case with a slightly convex pressure plate. It weighed around 9 kg (about 20 lbs), with approximately 5 kg of TNT explosive.
-
Activation: The mine required a significant pressure load (around 180 kg or 400 pounds in the center) to deform the pressure plate, which would then trigger the fuze mechanism and detonate the main charge.
-
Anti-Handling Measures: It featured secondary fuze wells on the side and bottom to allow for the attachment of anti-handling devices, making it more difficult to clear.
-
Variants: A variant, the T.Mi. 35 (S), had a ribbed case to stop sand from blowing off the top when used in desert environments.
